D&D Encounters - Beyond the Crystal Cave
November 30, 2011 – February 15, 2012

For a year, unnatural winds and mists have battered the area around the town of Crystalbrook. Worse, bizarre blue-skinned fey creatures have emerged from the fog to pillage and murder. Townsfolk blame these misfortunes on the fey of the nearby Sildaine Forest. The fey, who also suffer, claim innocence, faulting Crystalbrook’s people for hidden black magic that has attracted the wrath of primal spirits.

What Are D&D Encounters?

D&D Encounters is an exciting, weekly campaign that plays out one epic adventure at a time, right here in our store! As you defeat enemies, solve puzzles, finish quests, and perform heroic deeds, you’ll earn Renown Points that you can use to get exclusive rewards.

Each session only takes 1-2 hours to play, so it’s easy to fit your game in after school or work. And each week there’s a new and exciting challenge. Jump in anytime!

It is not necessary to play the whole season, each Encounter is self contained so you can play just once, the whole season long, or any weeks you have time.

What Do I Need To Play?

Each D&D Encounters season is a new mini-campaign experience. You can jump in anytime. Pre-generated characters are always available for play, and some seasons will give you the option to create your own character.  After a couple sessions, players will probably want to have their own D&D Player's Handbook or D&D Essentials Rules Compendium.

Is There Any Cost to Play?

No. We believe that by providing free game space, we are helping promote the gaming industry as a whole and that our loyal patrons will support that playing space by purchasing their game materials in our store.

What Do I Need To DM?

If you are going to DM, we will have all the adventure materials you need to prepare to run the weekly sessions, including the adventure, maps, and tokens to represent the characters, monsters, and other game elements. Preparing for a game couldn’t be easier; simply let us know you want to DM, read the background material and prep the encounter for that week!

What Kind Of Rewards Do I Earn?

Players earn exclusive D&D Encounters cards that provide your character with in-game benefits that can be applied to your current season’s character and future seasons’ characters. DMs earn different valuable game aids as a thank you for running D&D Encounters sessions.

What Is Dungeons & Dragons?

The Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game has defined the genre and has set the standard for fantasy roleplaying for more than 30 years.

D&D is an imaginative, social experience that engages players in a rich fantasy world filled with larger-than-life heroes, deadly monsters, and diverse settings. As a hobby game, D&D is an ongoing activity to which players might devote hours of their time—much like a weekly poker game—getting together with friends on a regular basis for weeks, months, or even years.

Players create heroic fantasy characters -- mighty warriors, stealthy rogues, or powerful wizards -- which they guide through an ongoing series of adventures, working together to defeat monsters and other challenges and growing in power, glory, and achievement. The game offers endless possibilities and a multitude of choices . . . more choices than even the most sophisticated computer game, because you can do whatever you can imagine!

What Is A Role-Playing Game?

The D&D game (as a roleplaying game) is a fantasy game of your imagination. It's part acting, part storytelling, part social interaction, part war game, and part dice rolling. You and your friends create characters that develop and grow with each adventure they complete. One player is the Dungeon Master (DM). The DM controls the monsters and enemies, narrates the action, referees the game, and sets up the adventure. Together, the Dungeon Master and the players make the game come alive.
