Malifaux St. Valentine's 'Speed Dating' Event

What Happens Here?

What better way is there to celebrate St. Valentine's Day than a romantic jaunt through The Breach to stroll the quixotic streets of Malifaux, meeting the quaint and charming residents? By which, of course, we actually mean, a bloody spree among the ghastly thoroughfares of Malifaux and its revolving crews of ominous denizens. BrutalEffigySepia

This is your chance to try out multiple crews from the Malifaux world.  Each turn players will take on a different crew and continue with games in progress.  Scrap sized crews will battle in multi-player brawls. Over all winner is based on points awarded at the end of each turn. Prove you are the Master of Malifaux by being able to play every crew.

What is the Tournament Format?

It is just like speed dating - just with less awkward small talk and far more mayhem.

Tables with three to five players will play against each other in a single Brawl.  You will start with your own crew, at the end of each turn all players will rotate to the crew clockwise of them and play that crew for the coming turn. Then everyone will rotate again at the end of each turn.

How will the Encounter be set up?

 Story Encounter: Search For Love

There will be 5 building terrain pieces on the boars. Models may perform an Interact (1) Find Love Action when in base contact with a building.

(1) Find Love: Flip a card (not cheatable) off the top of your Deck.

Black Joker: Black Heart - Interacting model receives Paralyzed and can no longer gain Sweet Treats from this building for the rest of the game.

1-6: Unrequited Love - Interacting model suffers 1 Wd.

7-13: Big Crush - Interacting model receives 1 Sweet Treat Token.

Red Joker: Love at First Sight - Interacting model receives 2 Sweet Treat Tokens and is healed 2 Wd.

A crew may not (1) Find Love with the same building more than once per turn. A crew may not (1) Find Love again with a building again until it has interacted with each of the other buildings on the table, even if the crew can no longer gain Sweet Treats Tokens from that house.

  Special Occurrence:

Sweet Tooth: In the Start Closing phase of each turn, pick the model in your crew with the most Sweet Treat Tokens. If there is a tie for the most, select the model with the lowest Wp. This model must win a Wp -> 13 test, or eat one of their treats (Discard 1 Sweet Treat Token). All players must do this every turn.

What Is Malifaux?

Malifaux is the name of Wyrd's premier game. It is a skirmish level miniatures wargame involving gang warfare in the ruins of an abandoned city. According to the game's backstory, the city of Malifaux was discovered through a portal into another world. This world is a source of the valuable mineral known as "soulstone" which allows for magical effects. Games pit masters and their crews against one another for control of this resource.

Released at Gen Con in August '09, Malifaux uses a unique card mechanic in lieu of dice. Numbers are randomly generated by drawing numbered cards from a "Fate Deck." A number of mechanics in the game allow for manipulating this draw. Malifaux features five different factions and associated miniatures for use in their game.
