Traveller is back with a boom!
What Happens Here?
This game is structured so new players get a chance to try out Traveller by jumping right into the mix, joining established characters and players. We find it a lot more fun to engage in an active game rather than simply demo-ing it. Based on the Classic Traveller rules set, this game uses the current set of rules from Mongoose Publishing. It is streamlined for modern roleplaying, and yet still retains that unmistakable Traveller aura. With complete rules for character and world creation, spaceships, encounters and trading, it is your gateway into new universes.Â
What Do I Need To Play?
Interested in trying out the game for the first time? Just show up! ALL materials will be provided for you.
Returning Player will need: a painted 28mm figure to pepresent your character, a completed character sheet, at least 2 six-sided dice, the Traveller: Core Rulebook from Mongoose Publishing, any supplment materials for your character, and a pencil.
Is there an Entrance Fee?
No. The store is gracious enough to provide free game space in an effort to help promote the gaming industry as a whole. And in turn that their loyal patrons will support that playing space by purchasing their game materials in our store. However, you'll want to have cash for snacks and drinks.
What Is Traveller?
Traveller is a series of related science fiction role-playing games. The game was inspired from such classic science fiction stories as the Dumarest saga series by E.C. Tubb, the Foundation stories of Isaac Asimov, H. Beam Piper's Space Viking, Larry Niven's Known Space, Jerry Pournelle's CoDominium, Poul Anderson's Polesotechnic League and several other works of science fiction literature. Characters typically journey between various star systems and engage in activities such as exploration, ground and space battles, and interstellar trading. Traveller characters are defined less by the need to increase native skill and ability and more by achievements, discoveries, or obtaining wealth, gadgets, titles and political power.
Originally Traveller was intended to be a system for playing generic space opera-themed science fiction adventures in much the same sense that Dungeons & Dragons was a system intended for generic fantasy adventures.
What is Roleplaying?
A roleplaying game is an interactive game of imagination. It's part acting, part storytelling, part social interaction, part war game, part creative adventuring and part dice rolling. You and your friends create characters in far off worlds. One player is the Game Master, who sets up the adventure, narrates the action, referees the game, and controls the enemies. Together the players and game master make the game come alive.
